In Hawaiian, the name for white ginger is “awapuhi ke’oke’o.” It grows wild and abundant across the fertile hills of Maui’s haleakala as well as along the roads to Hana. This tropical, spicy scent fills the Hana Rainforest and is one of the more distinct fragrances of Maui.
